Medical emergencies for a beloved pet can, and often do, occur outside of normal business hours. To best meet all your pet’s needs, we work to make sure you have access to the best 24/7 emergency pet care that Wichita has to offer.

During regular business hours, the medical staff and resources at Companion Animal Hospital are available to help you with any emergency your pet experiences. If possible, please call us in advance at (316) 722-6464 so we can prepare for your arrival.

When to Seek an Emergency Veterinarian for Your Pet

The easiest answer is when you feel his or her medical condition is serious and cannot wait. However, the following general list of conditions can help you determine if you need to seek emergency care for your pet:

• Difficulty breathing
• Acute abdominal swelling
• Electric shock
• Excessive vomiting or diarrhea
• Bleeding
• Exhibits symptoms of heat stroke
• Seizures
• Sudden onset of weakness
• High or low temperature (more than 104 or less than 100 degrees)
• Unable to urinate or defecate

During office hours, we are fully equipped and ready to help with all of your emergency and critical care needs. They are available when we are closed and we trust them for quality care! In the event you have to visit the emergency clinic we can get the records so we can follow up if your pet needs further care.
